THE S.I. LITERARY AWARD

Students who have a passion for Creative Writing but are unable to afford the fees due to difficult circumstances will be given the opportunity to participate in the S.I. Literary Award which offers Full and Half Scholarships to successful applicants each year.

The Award is a literary prize recognizing newly published work in POETRY, SCRIPT WRITING, PLAYWRITING and a NARRATIVE which may be Fiction or Non-Fiction.

1st Prize:      Full tuition at the Creative Writing Academy
2nd Prize:     Half-tuition at the Creative Writing Academy
3rd Prize:       Complimentary Pass for 10 workshops at the Creative Writing Academy
 
Closing date: Midnight on 30 March 2019.
Entry fee:      GH 200
The winner will be announced on 31 May 2019.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Submit a personal essay that addresses the following:
1. How the practice of reading and writing enriches your life. (1,000 words)
2. How your attendance at the Creative Writing Academy (CWA) will help you attain your goals for Creative Writing. (500 words)
3. Your first and second choices for Poetry, Script-Writing, Playwriting, Fiction, Non-fiction and Writing for the Media. Give reasons for your preferences. (500 words)
 
Submit three (3) of the following:
4. Poetry: 4 Poems - preferably non-rhyming, that offer a variety of forms, styles and subjects. (up to 100 lines)
5. Script Writing: 2 One-Act scripts for Radio, Television or Film. (500 words per script)
6. Playwriting: 2 dialogue-driven scenes or plays. (500 words each)
7. Fiction: 2 short stories. One must have a  moral lesson. (500 words per story)
8. Nonfiction: A memoir/autobiography. (1,000 words)
