Through stories, scripts for television, theatre and film, poetry, fiction and non-fiction, we can foster empathy, resilience, and communal healing. As poets, novelists, screenwriters, playwrights, corporate writers, copywriters, and hybrid artists, we have learned that words can be comic, wrenching, uplifting, and transformative. Words have the power to shape perceptions, change minds, spark dialogue, and affect real lives, so we must use them with care, courage, and humility.

At CWA, we aim to equip students with a toolkit that will turn ordinary stories into memorable narratives with authenticity; voice and style, developing a unique perspective while remaining adaptable to varied forms and audiences; structure and craft, mastering pacing, tension, rhythm, and the architecture of argument or storytelling; revision and discipline, understanding that great writing is often the result of relentless editing; and ethical storytelling, honouring subjects, interlocutors, and communities with responsibility, consent, and care.
